MODCOMP INFINITY Applications Utilize INFINITY/IX Data Base Server
for Instant Migration
MODCOMP applications now have transparent access to INFINITY data bases on LINUX-based INFINITY/IX data base servers. No application modifications or recompilations are required. This software requires an Intelligent Peripheral Controller (IPC) equipped with a TCP/IP Ethernet interface connected to the INFINITY/IX server. The software includes all components for MAX applications to access multiple INFINITY/IX servers and for one INFINITY/IX server to support access by multiple MAX systems.
Two configurations of the product are available: Models 3610 and 3620. Model 3610 provides the additional software components needed for MAX systems with IPCs already equipped with Models 3210 or 3220 Ethernet TCP/IP. The Model 3620 product combines all of the Model 3610 software plus MAX device-level support for TCP/IP and an Ethernet interface found in the Model 3210 product. Model 3620 provides a cost-effective combination of the 3610 and many features of the 3210 product except the "C" language socket interface.
MODCOMP systems can transfer all of their INFINITY support to a PC-based server without a single program change and enjoy a performance boost (at least two times faster). Instant access to data is available to a variety of computing platforms without depending on the MODCOMP system. An INFINITY/IX data base server operates up to 100 times faster than its MAX-based INFINITY predecessor, and with TCP/IP network connectivity there is plenty of performance to attach to a large number of client systems. Data is always maintained in the native format of each server and automatically converted if necessary to the native format of each client’s system, providing consistent interoperability among different computer architectures--both old and new.
Stop worrying about conversion. You can off-load your INFINITY data base immediately without program changes, continue to run existing applications, and develop and deploy applications on new platforms while everything continues to operate. As new applications come on-line, discontinue the corresponding MAX applications--soon the MAX system will be doing nothing. Switch to new hardware without conversion or interrupting operations.
If you are still running on obsolete peripherals, the IPC handling the INFINITY/IX connection has plenty of power to support disk, DAT tape, async, Ethernet and PLC communications. You will enjoy better performance, lower maintenance costs, and improved reliability with the very latest technology. Combine the instant migration of your INFINITY data base to a server while immediately eliminating obsolete peripherals, and you will leap ahead in an effective conversion. Gain many of the benefits of migration immediately while preserving the MODCOMP CPU and applications and opening the door to orderly software migration. Minimum risk and no downtime are a winning combination.
Model 3610 INFINITY/IX Software Interface$2,000.00
The INFINITY/IX Software Interface provides the necessary software for existing MODCOMP INFINITY-based applications to utilize external INFINITY/IX Data Base Servers. Now the INFINITY data base system and its data can be immediately migrated to an external server. Other systems and applications can have direct access to this data without using the MODCOMP system. After moving the data base to the server, new and/or replacement applications can be developed and deployed in parallel with continued operation of MODCOMP applications. When all MODCOMP applications have been replaced, the MODCOMP system can be disconnected, completing a total system migration with minimal downtime.
This product may be added to a MODCOMP system that already has a Model 3020 IPC, equipped with either a Model 3210 or 3220 Ethernet TCP/IP Interface. A LINUX-based INFINITY/IX Server is also required.
Model 3620 INFINITY/IX System Interface $3,000.00
The INFINITY/IX System Interface provides the necessary software for existing MODCOMP INFINITY-based applications to utilize external INFINITY/IX Data Base Servers. It also includes the essential Ethernet software and hardware for an IPC to support network connections.
Now an INFINITY data base system and its data can be immediately migrated to an external server. Other systems and applications can then have direct access to this information without having to interface with the MODCOMP system. After moving the data base to the server, new and/or replacement applications can be developed and deployed in parallel with the continued operation of MODCOMP applications. When all MODCOMP applications have been replaced, the MODCOMP system can be disconnected, completing a total system migration with minimal downtime.
This product may be combined with a Model 3020 IPC for a complete solution for MODCOMP systems without IPCs. The Model 3620 product can be added to a MODCOMP system with an existing IPC not equipped with either an Ethernet Model 3210 or 3220 Ethernet TCP/IP Interface. A LINUX-based INFINITY/IX Server is also required.
